Zamboanga City Government News Bits March 11, 2015
- Mayor Beng Climaco urges barangay officials to strictly monitor their respective area of responsibility for possible uncoordinated activities such as those implemented purportedly for communities not recognized by the local government. This, in view of implementation of the Sajahatra Bangsamoro program for “MILF communities” in various baragays under the supervision of the Office of the Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process without coordination with the local government. This kind of activities should be immediately reported to the City Mayor’s office.
- The Early Recovery Coordination Structure has replaced the Inter-Cluster Coordination to steer the recovery phase as well as to effectively and efficiently respond to the needs of the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs). The President has directed the national agencies and the City Government to expedite the transfer of the IDPs to the transitory sites and eventually to the permanent shelter areas.
- Social preparations and look-see visits to transitory sites are continuously pursued for IDPs housed at the grandstand. 59 families are set for transfer to the Masepla transitory site within the week.
- The Zamboanga City Police Office in 2014 filed, through the City Prosecutor’s Office, a total of 350 drug cases in Court. Of the total number, 238 cases have prospered the initial evaluation of evidence against the suspects and are now pending in court for trial; 5 cases were outrightly dismissed and 7 cases dropped by the prosecutor; the rest are pending for court hearings.
- The City Veterinarian’s Office warns the public against preparing and/or eating raw meat products from a rabid animal, as this is highly hazardous. This, as 5 adults and 2 children in Shermal Subdivision in San Roque were confirmed to have consumed meat of a rabid dog last March 9. The concerned individuals were advised to immediately see the City Health Officer for medication/treatment.
- The Zamboanga City Water District (ZCWD) will impose its new water rationing schedule effective 5 a.m. on Thursday, March 12: East Coast area will have water from 5 a.m. to 11 a.m.; central area will have water from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. while the west coast area will have water from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. Kindly refer and forward all queries if any to ZCWD dedicated hotlines 955-1007 to 1009 during office hours and from Monday to Friday and to the Filtration hotline 991-1553 during evenings and weekends.
