SULU – Governor Totoh Tan has donated fire fighting equipment on Thursday to the Asturias Fire Brigade in the capital town of Jolo in the southern Philippine province of Sulu.
Tan handed over the equipment to the fire fighters led by Mashier Tan, village chieftain of Asturias, during a simple ceremony held at the Provincial Capitol in Patikul town. Among the donations were hoses and two sets of 15-horsepower water pumps.
The village chieftain and his fire fighters, who are mostly civilian volunteers, praised Tan for his support to the community. Tan urged other village leaders to organize their own fire brigade which can immediately response to emergency. (Ahl-franzie Salinas)
