ZAMBOANGA CITY (Mindanao Examiner / Apr. 20, 2014) – Police said it remain focused on the fulfillment of its mandated tasks following reports that there is favoritism or rivalry between those who graduated from the Philippine Military Academy and the Philippine National Police Academy.

Chief Superintendent Juanito Vaño, Jr., who heads the regional police force in Western Mindanao, said the officers under his command – whether they belonged to the Philippine National Police Academy or Philippine Military Academy, are working as one with the crucial goal of attaining peace and order in entire region and assured the public they all stand committed behind the duly constituted authorities.

“The chain of command remains firm and well-built, and every police personnel stick to it, contrary to the alleged existence of so-called bata-bata or patronage system in the organization,” he said, adding “there is no divisiveness among the officers in the region because it has long nurtured for a strong rapport, comradeship and esprit-de-corps in the service.”

Vaño said the promotion and assignment of police officers – whether he is from the Philippine Military Academy or the Philippine National Police Academy – in sensitive positions is being measured based on their meritorious performance, leadership, accomplishment, discipline, dedication to duty, and most but not least loyalty to the police service.
