ZAMBOANGA CITY – Motorcycle gunmen shot dead a hospital employee in a daring broad daylight attack on Monday in Zamboanga City in southern Philippines, police said.
Police said Jay-Ar Esposo, a radiologic technologist at the Ciudad Medical Zamboanga, was on a motorcycle with his cousin when gunmen attacked him along Mayor Vitaliano Agan Avenue. He died instantly from the attack which occurred just outside the hospital.
His cousin said the victim was on his way to work when two men – both wearing motorcycle helmets – pulled on Esposo’s side and shot him once in the head. The gunmen escaped after the shooting leaving Esposo’s terrified cousin behind.
No individual claimed responsibility for the shooting and police were investigating the murder.
Gun attacks are not uncommon in Zamboanga City where hired killers freely operate and have been blamed for the series of murders here. (E. Dumaboc)
