
PAGADIAN CITY (Mindanao Examiner / Apr. 7, 2014) – A village official and a farmer were killed in separate gun attacks in the southern Filipino province of Zamboanga del Sur, police said Monday.
Police said a lone gunman killed Jhonny Gador Ligar, 24, at Purok Salingsing in Balintawak village in Pagadian City. Ligar, a village councilman in Ocapan in San Miguel town, was on a motorcycle when the attacker shot him several times with a .45-caliber pistol. The gunman escaped after the shooting.
A 37-year old farmer, Henry Eberbia, was also shot dead by three men armed with rifles at Purok 4 in Datangan village in Zamboanga del Sur’s Bayog town. Police said Eberbia visiting his farm when the attack occurred.
Eberbia was shot several times and police said at least 9 bullet casings were recovered from the area.
Police said the motive of the two attacks remains unknown and that investigations are going on to identify the killers of Ligar and Eberbia. (Mindanao Examiner)
