
ZAMBOANGA CITY (Mindanao Examiner / Mar. 20, 2014) – A policeman was seriously injured following a motorcycle crash in Zamboanga City in southern Philippines, officials said Thursday.
Officials said PO2 Jerick Amilasan, assigned with the Regional Public Safety Battalion, was driving his motorcycle when he tried to overtake but hit the side of another motorcycle along the Zamboanga highway near the village of Mercedes.
Amilasan was thrown about 40 meters before hitting the concrete road. The other motorcycle driver Donie Alipan, 23, and his passenger Ricardo Francisco, 21, were both injured in the accident. It was unknown if the policeman was wearing a protective helmet or not.
Officials said Amilasan sustained serious head injury and was immediately brought to Zamboanga Doctors Hospital. (Mindanao Examiner)
