MANILA (Mindanao Examiner / Feb. 26, 2014) – The Philippine police conducted on Wednesday a seminar-workshop for its public information officers as part of a continuing program aimed at further providing the public and media with timely and accurate information.
The seminar involved more than 50 participants – the first batch of information officers assigned at the National Capital Region – and was held at the national police headquarters in Camp Crame in Quezon City. It also gave emphasis on the strict implementation of established policies and guidelines on Police Media Relations.
“It aims to promote consistency and credibility in public pronouncements by enhancing competencies of unit commanders and public information officers in the proper engagement and sharing of information to the media,” the police said.
Bing Formento, of radio network dzRH and Cecille Felipe, from the Philippine Star, and Alvin Baltazar, of radio station dzRB and television PTV4 lectured at the seminar, which was spearheaded by Chief Superintendent Reuben Theodore Sindac and other officials at the Public Information Office of the Philippine National Police.
Aming the topics discussed during the seminar were the PNP polices and basics on media relations, the do’s and dont’s on how to handle media interviews, and development of press releases. (Mindanao Examiner)
