
BASILAN (Mindanao Examiner / Feb. 16, 2014) – An unidentified gunman shot a civilian just outside a bank in Isabela City in the southern Philippine province of Basilan, police said.
Police said the 34-year old Jeng Sabirun was about to go to the automated teller machine of the Land Bank of the Philippines along Juan Alano Street when the gunman shot him several times from behind at around 6:45 p.m. on Sunday.
The attacker fled after the shooting. Sabirun, a resident of Lanote-Bliss village, was rushed to hospital, but his condition is unknown.
Police are investigating the motive of the attack and no individual claimed responsibility for the shooting. Gun attacks are not uncommon in Isabela City and many of the cases remain unsolved. (Mindanao Examiner)
