With the win, the Warriors are 34-2 on the season. This is the best start in NBA history, and if they remain relatively healthy, there’s no reason to think the 1995-96 Chicago Bulls‘ record 72-win mark isn’t reachable. Of course, Golden State would run the risk of tiring itself out if it collectively decides that this is an important goal. As the team approaches the halfway point, it seems like all the players would like to make a run at history, but they know that being ready for the playoffs is the first priority.
It’s easy to see why Stotts would say something like that, though. The Warriors just scored 38 points in the first quarter on the road and led by as many as 25, rendering Portland guardDamian Lillard‘s 40-point, 10-assist performance meaningless. After trying to slow down this juggernaut and failing so spectacularly, beating them must seem impossible.(James Herbert)
