PAGADIAN CITY (Mindanao Examiner / Jan. 29, 2014) – Police arrested a farmer who shot his neighbor enraged by the assailant’s wife who took the victim’s cattle for eating their plants in Pagadian City in Zamboanga del Sur province in southern Philippines.

Police said Jemerito Belen, 36, was killed after he – armed with a bolo – rushed to the house of Narciso Paller, 49, to confront them. But fearing they would be attacked, Paller opened fire on the farmer hitting him twice in the body and face.

Paller later surrendered to village councilman Feliciano Obledo, who then handed him over to the police, including his licensed gun.

Police detained Paller as criminal charges are being prepared against him. (Mindanao Examiner)
