
SULU – The Sulu Provincial Women’s Council or SPWC has recently launched a blood drive and was participated by its members and government troops and policemen, including civilians who volunteered to donate their blood in an effort to support the Philippine National Red Cross.
Hajja Nurunisah Tan, a nurse by profession and head of the SPWC, led the annual event. Local Red Cross Administrator Preciosa Chiong praised Tan, a philanthropist, and all those who took part in the blood donation.
Tan, who is running for vice governor of Sulu, said they also conducted free medical and dental services that benefitted many people in the province.
She said the medical and dental services are also being offered free every weekend and cater mostly to elder people, poor families and children. The humanitarian mission is also being supported by the Sulu provincial government.
Tan said the SPWC has a lot of humanitarian projects lined up for this year. (Ahl-franzie Salinas)
