
PAGADIAN CITY (Mindanao Examiner / Dec. 4, 2013) – One person was killed and another wounded after two motorcycle gunmen attacked them in the town of Guipos in Zamboanga del Sur province in southern Philippines, police said Wednesday.
Police said the victims – Rodolfo Sarmiento, 55, and Rolando Remorosa, 44, – were on a motorcycle driven by Ronald Sarmiento when the gunmen, who were tailing them suddenly opened fire.
The shooting killed Sarmiento and wounded his companion. The motorcycle driver managed to escape from the assailants in the village of Bagong Oroquita. Remorosa was brought to a hospital here.
Police said investigators recovered at least 11 bullet casings fired from a .45-caliber pistol from the area.
Police said the victims just came from the village of Mati in San Miguel town and were heading home when the attack occurred. The motive of the attack is still unknown. (Mindanao Examiner)
