The father of a woman who was found dead in Okinawa has visited the site where her body was discovered. He said it is unbearable when he imagines the pain, agony and terror she suffered before her death.
Kenneth Franklin Shinzato was arrested on Thursday on suspicion of abandoning the body of the 20-year-old woman in a wooded area in the village of Onna late last month.
The 32-year-old suspect is a former US Marine and now a civilian worker at US Kadena Air Base in the prefecture.
The father and relatives of the woman on Monday visited the site where her body was found. They laid flowers and offered prayers.
Shedding tears, the relatives called her name and prayed out loud for her soul to return home with them.
The father later told reporters he wanted to see the place and how her body was abandoned.
The father noted that he struggles with mixed feelings of grief and hatred against the suspect.
Many people including the woman’s friends have been coming to the site to lay flowers.
Her father said he is grateful for the encouragement from such people.(NHK World)
