BASILAN – Security forces captured two suspected Abu Sayyaf militants during an operation in Basilan province in the Muslim autonomous region in southern Philippines, authorities said Saturday.
It said policemen and soldiers tracked down Mudzri Adjalan and Yasir in their hideout in the village of Sungkayot in Ungkaya Pukan town on Friday and eventually captured them.
Authorities linked the duo to ransom kidnappings and murders in Basilan and Zamboanga City and are currently being interrogated here.
No other details were made available by the authorities on the two men until investigations is completed, but operations against the Abu Sayyaf is continuing in Basilan, just several nautical miles south of Zamboanga. (Mindanao Examiner)
