
ZAMBOANGA CITY (Mindanao Examiner / Nov. 6, 2013) – A man was killed after an oxygen cylinder exploded on Wednesday in Zamboanga City in southern Philippines, police and company officials said.
Police Chief Inspector Elmer Acuna said they were investigating the explosion which occurred at the refilling plant of Premium Gases Corporation in Mampang village. The blast killed worker Mark Jay Velasco.
“We are still investigating the incident, but initial reports said the oxygen cylinder exploded and one person was killed in the blast,” he said.
He said the victim could have mishandled the oxygen cylinder causing it to explode. No other details were made available by the police and company officials about the blast. (Mindanao Examiner)
