DIPOLOG CITY – Police arrested a drug agent after he shot his drinking buddy on Monday in Dipolog City in the southern Philippine province of Zamboanga del Norte, officials said.
Officials said the 39-year old Ritchie Sorronda – a member of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency – admitted shooting Romeo Paculanang after he barged in his house following a heated argument.
Sorronda said he warned the man to stay away from his house, but Paculanang insisted on getting inside forcing the agent to shoot him with his .45-caliber pistol. Paculanang was hit in the head and is now in critical condition at a hospital in the province.
Official said Sorronda, who is an intelligence officer with PDEA, is assigned in Cebu province. The two are said to be relatives, according to Superintendent Rogelio Alabata, a regional police spokesman.
“The victim is in critical condition,” Alabata said, adding, Sorronda is currently detained in Dipolog. (Ely Dumaboc)
