
DIPOLOG CITY (Mindanao Examiner / Oct. 30, 2013) – A man was clubbed to death after being caught on Wednesday stealing a steel cutter at a construction site in Dipolog City in Zamboanga del Norte province in southern Philippines, police said.
Police said Archie Alvarez, 26, a resident of Zamboanga City, was hit in the head by a piece of wood as he tried to flee with his loot. Ruel Narvaez told police that he hit Alvarez after he caught the man allegedly stealing the equipment.
Police said Alvarez sustained fatal injuries in the head and body from the blows.
“Investigation disclosed that the victim barged into the construction site and took away one unit Hitachi Koki Steel Cutter, however, he was caught by the suspect, and thus, he was struck with the wooden ax handle,” a police report said.
Police said the attacker was arrested and detained at the local jail. It was unknown whether Alvarez had any family in Dipolog City. (Mindanao Examiner)
