BASILAN PROVINCE – Police were investigating a gruesome murder in Lamitan City in the restive province of Basilan in the Muslim autonomous region in southern Philippines where a man had been decapitated.
Police said the victim had been identified as Najer Walid, whose body was found Friday afternoon in the village of Matatag. It said the police desk received a call that there had been a fight between two men and a team was immediately dispatched to the area.
But when policemen arrived, the body of the 20-year old Walid laid bloodied in the village. Police said it is investigating the motive of the killing and the man behind the murder. It also appealed to villagers to come out and provide information that could help solve the crime. (Mindanao Examiner)
