
ZAMBOANGA CITY (Mindanao Examiner / June 27, 2013) – An unidentified gunman shot dead a local Muslim trader in an attack just outside a village hall in Zamboanga City in southern Philippines, police said on Thursday.
Police said Wahid Tamsilani, 56, was killed in the village called Arena Blanco where he had been selling old clothes.
It said the gunman escaped after the shooting. Police investigators recovered a bullet casing of .45-caliber pistol in the area.
Chief Inspector Ariel Huesca, a regional police spokesman, said the victim was killed while his shop. “He was shot in the armpit,” he said.
It was unknown whether if any of the villagers had witnessed the shooting. The motive of the attack is also unknown and no individual claimed responsibility for the latest killing.
Killings and gun attacks in Zamboanga City is almost a daily occurrence and many of the murders were perpetrated by hired killers who are actively operating here. (Mindanao Examiner)
