ZAMBOANGA CITY (Mindanao Examiner / May 20, 2013) – A well-respected business leader Pedro Rufo Soliven has inspired students in Zamboanga City to be entrepreneurs and set their goals and vision and translate these into reality.
Speaking to students of the Ateneo de Zamboanga University during Monday’s Product Launching of Entrepreneurship Students with the theme “New Breed of Young Entrepreneurs: Creating Value for Better Economy, Organization and People,” Soliven said: “Entrepreneurs should be a risk taker, but the risk must be calculated, a reasoned and managed risk, because the biggest risk in life is the unwillingness to take one. All the twist and turns are just part of the journey. Focus on the destination, refused to be stopped, be unstoppable, every problem is a well disguised potential opportunity.”
Soliven, who is also the president of the Zamboanga Chamber of Commerce and Industry Foundation, Inc., also quoted Donald Trump and told the students that budding entrepreneur starts with a vision. “Without vision nothing of consequence will happen. You should take the road less traveled and create your own path. Entrepreneurs make things happen, while others let things happen.”
A multi-awarded Atenean, Soliven was honored the Atenean Award for Entrepreneurship in 2006 and the Atenean of the Year in 2012. And during the Ateneo Alumni Centennial last year, Soliven was also awarded for his different advocacies and involvement, among which was the promotion of entrepreneurship among the locals.
