ZAMBOANGA CITY (Mindanao Examiner / May 4, 2013) – Two people were killed in separate gun attacks in Zamboanga City in southern Philippines, police said Saturday.
It said a resident of Sinunuc village, Radja Ahmad, was shot dead by a line gunman in the Muslim village of Taluksangay. Police said Ahmad was shot several times and that investigators recovered five bullet casings fired from a .45-caliber pistol.
Another attack in Recodo village also killed Jul Hussin, who was shot in the face, and his companion Michael Labbay, is wounded from the shooting.
Police said two men were involved in the shootings in Recodo and that both have been identified, although they remain at large.
Police have launched an investigation into both attacks. Gun attacks and killings are rampant in Zamboanga City where gun-for-hires are actively operating, but police would often blame the unabated killings to family feud and personal grudge, instead of running after hired killers.
