PAGADIAN CITY – Motorcycle gunmen shot Wednesday and fatally wounded a former town mayor in Lanao del Norte’s Bacolod town, security officials said.
Officials said Nacianceno Pacalioga Jr, who served as mayor and vice mayor in Dumingag town in Zamboanga del Sur province, was rushed to a hospital in Iligan City, but his condition remains unknown and police said it is investigating the motive of the attack.
Capt. Clint Antipala, a spokesman for the 1st Infantry Division, said Pacalioga was shot multiple times by two gunmen in the village of Esperanza. “Mayor Nacianceno Pacalioga was shot several times while having personal necessity by the roadside. Victim was brought to Sanitarium Hospital in Iligan City for medical treatment,” Antipala said.
Pacalioga was dismissed the Ombudsman for falsification of official document and serious dishonesty by deliberately omitting several real properties from his 2011, 2012, and 2014 Statement of Assets, Liabilities and Net Worth after he failed to declare 10 parcels of land located in different villages of Dumingag.
