Eleven skilled competitors from various skills categories from this province emerged as winners during the recently conducted Regional Skills Competition (RSC) spearheaded by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) regional office.
The RSC was participated in by skilled competitors across the region held at the Southern Isabela College of Arts and Trades in Santiago City on March 27-29, 2019.
Demetrio Anduyan Jr, TESDA – Isabela head said he is very happy that gold medalists of the 11 out of the 14 skilled competitions are from Isabela.
Anduyan said the gold medalists are: Jolly Y. Calpito (Beauty Therapy), Melissa Serile (Cooking), Marlon Benigno B. Ballatan IV (Electrical Installation), Fe Marie D. Doroni (Electronics), Rhowella Teppang (Graphic Design Technology), Valen G. Singson (Hairdressing), Charmie A. Lintao (IT Software Technology), Romel H. Asuero (Refrigeration and Airconditioning), Alyzza Mariel Bautista (Restaurant Service), Ahmed Genesis F. Simon (Web Design and Development), and Aljonn Marcelino (Welding Technology).Meanwhile, the silver medalists are Welvin Nabaysa (Information Network Cabling), Angelo B. Lucero (Mechanical Engineering – CAD) and Joshua M. delos Reyes (Automobile Technology).
The regional winners will represent the region in the Zonal Skills Competition. Winners in the zonal level will represent the island of Luzon in the Philippine National Skills Competition, and the National Level winner will represent the country in the 2019 ASEAN Skills Competition.
The regional competition aims to harness the potentials and capabilities of the youth in the regions and shall further boost their awareness and appreciation in acquiring technical knowledge through the Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET).
The competition aims to promote the development of quality vocational/technical and work values among the youth and skilled workers, to foster cooperation among stakeholders and to recognize workmanship and excellence of Filipino worker.(By Merlito G. Edale, Jr.)
