MATI CITY (Mindanao Examiner / Jan. 24, 2013) – Former President Joseph Estrada and his son San Juan City Rep. JV Ejercito Estrada have donated some 200 bales of used clothing and financial aid to typhoon victims in Davao Oriental province, one of the worst hit by the calamity in Mindanao.

The Estradas, accompanied by businessman William Gatchalian, handed the donations to provincial officials headed by Gov. Cora Malanyaon in Mati City on Wednesday.
Local officials said the former president donated P500,000; his son JV and mother, Guia Gomez, who is the mayor of San Juan City, also donated P700,000; and Gatchalian P500,000.
The young Estrada said the used clothing came from Japan and intended to the families of victims of typhoon.
Ejercito Estrada, who is running for senator in the May polls under the United Nationalist Alliance, said he was moved by the warm reception they received from the locals.
“It was really touching and we hope that our donations, little they maybe, can help a little in alleviating the suffering of many typhoon victims in Davao Oriental,” he said, adding they are also visiting Compostela Valley province which was also hit by typhoon.
