ZAMBOANGA CITY – Some 692 new policemen were deployed Monday to various assignments in western Mindanao and for 6 months shall undergo a field training program, officials said.
Major Helen Galvez, a regional police spokeswoman, said 450 cops have been assigned to the Zamboanga City Police Office and 59 to Zamboanga Sibugay and 91 to Zamboanga del Sur and 92 were deployed to Zamboanga del Norte police offices.

She said Colonel Ronaldo Llanera, the Deputy Regional Director for Administration, led the send-off ceremony held at the regional police headquarters here. The new policemen belong to the Masiklab Classes of 2018-01
“The 692 police trainees will be under the watch of Regional Special Training Units 9,” she said. “For six months, respective field training officers and senior police officers of Zamboanga City Police Office, Zamboanga del Norte, Zamboanga Sibugay, Zamboanga del Sur are expected to mold the new breed of police officers who will be exposed to actual police works in the field of patrol, investigation and other police works.”
Galvez said Muslim policemen were also ordered to wear their traditional white hijab or head cover while on duty, mostly as patrol officers. “This is to foster peace and oneness of the Philippine National Police with the Muslim community in the region,” she said. (Zamboanga Post)
