WITH THE STRONG support of Mayor Beng Climaco to President Rodrigo Duterte’s campaign against illegal drugs, the Zamboanga City Anti-Drug Abuse Council conducted a seminar and workshop to members of the Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Councils or BADAC.
The seminar and workshop on the Capability Enhancement on Barangay Drug Clearing Program aims to further strengthen the local government’s fight against drug menace. Climaco currently chairs the Zamboanga City Anti-Drug Abuse Council.
She ordered authorities to further intensify the campaign against illegal drugs hand-in-hand with the implementation of rehabilitation programs.
The Zamboanga City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office headed by Elmeir Apolinario facilitated the training with the objective of making BADACs better equipped in undertaking pre-emptive and pro-active measures in the campaign against illegal drugs.

The seminar also discussed topics on new laws and regulations on drug operations and to make BADAC members understand and implement the Community-Based Rehabilitation Program.
Among those who participated in the seminar were representatives and resource speakers from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, City Prosecutor’s Office, Sonshine Rehabilitation Center and Ronald Rivera, the Technical Adviser to the Davao City Anti-Drug Abuse Council, including secretaries and focal persons on peace and order and women and family from 98 barangays.
