VICE MAYOR Sebastian “Baste” Duterte has called on City Council members to file and pass at least one ordinance per year.
In an interview Wednesday afternoon, Councilor Danilo Dayanghirang said the younger Duterte wanted to see to it that the councilors are working in their respective committees.
Dayanghirang, who said the vice mayor expressed this sentiment during one of their executive sessions, added that City Council members are amenable to Baste’s proposal.
“We are obliged to follow it or else it would reflect that we are not doing our job,” Dayanghirang said.
The veteran councilor said they find the vice mayor’s leadership “assertive” and that it was only right as they were primarily elected to formulate local laws.
“We really appreciate it and as far as I’m concerned, I’m doing my job. I don’t know about those who are not filing their ordinances yet,” he said in jest, adding he has already filed six ordinances this year.(By Che Palicte)
