
KIDAPAWAN CITY (Mindanao Examiner / Jan. 6, 2012) – Philippine authorities disarmed two improvised explosives planted in the southern city of Kidapawan in Mindanao.
The explosives, both made from mortar bombs and rigged to a mobile phone and a detonator, were discovered in downtown Kidapawan.
No individual or group claimed responsibility for the foiled bombing.
There was no immediate statement from the 6th Infantry Division, but television reports said the explosives were fashioned out from a pair of 60mm mortar bombs, and planted near a a budget hotel.
GMA News reported that the bombs were discovered by a patrolling policeman Francis Sanchez. (Mindanao Examiner)
