ZAMBOANGA CITY – Mayor Beng Climaco praised and expressed her gratitude to the local authorities for the peaceful celebration of the Zamboanga Hermosa Festival which drew thousands of local and foreign tourists here.
She also commended city officials and employees and other agencies, including City Special Events team led by Christian Olasiman, for the impressive festival activities participated by the different sectors.
Climaco handed out individual certificates of appreciation to the different security agencies and offices, as well as volunteer groups and hosted a huge “boodle fight” as a token of here appreciation to the authorities. She said nothing is impossible as long as there is unity and cooperation of all sectors that led to the successful event.
Zamboanga also hosted the first-ever Hermosa Triathlon and participated by over 200 athletes from all over the country.
The month-long festival is being held every 12th of October in honor of the miraculous image of Nuestra Señora del Pilar – the patroness of Zamboanga City.
With the theme “Diversidad, Resiliencia y Alegria,” Climaco along with the members of the City Council led the daily programs in various part of Zamboanga. Climaco said the festival is a celebration of culture, history and faith of the Zamboangueños.
Olasiman said the Zamboanga Hermosa Festival celebration centers on three distinct, yet very important core values that defined the bedrock of the Zamboangueño communities and their continued resurgence as a people – Diversidad, Resiliencia y Alegria or Diversity, Resilience and Joy.
