Anti-drug war film to be shown in seaports, airports: Andanar

Editor December 16, 2019
PRESIDENTIAL COMMUNICATIONS  Operations Office (PCOO) Secretary Martin Andanar said the government’s anti-drug war documentary film ‘Gramo’ will soon be viewed in seaports, airports and buses, and will even be released overseas.
In an interview here Sunday, Andanar said the docu-film will be distributed to the transport terminals through the Department of Transportation (DOTr), while the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) will be sending a memorandum circular to all regional directors to allow the public viewing of the film in all villages.
He added a copy of the film will be also given to other foreign countries and the United Nations.
“This is good for the Filipino people and this is also good for the international community so we are organizing a docu-film festival with other members of the international diplomatic community,” Andanar said.
The hour-long documentary, Andanar said, talks about the achievement of President Rodrigo Duterte’s war against illegal drugs.
“The documentary shows the number of pushers arrested, police arrested; how many died, even the criticisms against it were answered in the film, and soon it will be disseminated by DILG and DOTr. It also shows where we are now on our war against illegal drugs and where the President will be taking this in the next three years,” he said.
Andanar said some 15,000 barangays in the country have been declared drug-free, while 17,000 barangays are yet to be declared drug-free.
“The government will not stop on its campaign against illegal drugs so that by 2022, the promise of the President will be delivered,” he added.
‘Gramo’ is being simulcast in PCOO-run social media pages. The documentary film was released to address the “inaccurate narratives” about President Duterte’s anti-narcotics campaign.
Apart from the documentary film, the PCOO also launched a 57-paged magazine titled “Saving the Future of A Nation: Countering Hard Drugs.”
Andanar was in Pangasinan on Sunday for a media engagement, where he also had the chance to promote the docu-film ‘Gramo’ among the members of the press in the province.(By Hilda Austria)
