
MANILA (Mindanao Examiner / Dec. 14, 2012) – The Trade Union Congress of the Philippines endorsed top senatorial candidate San Juan City Rep. JV Ejercito Estrada during its national convention Friday in Quezon City.
Ejercito Estrada, who is a consistent top placer in separate surveys of the Social Weather Station and Pulse Asia, is running under the United Nationalist Alliance of Vice President Jejomar Binay.
The lawmaker was invited as keynote speaker in the convention. TUCP Chairman Lawyer Democrito Mendoza led the endorsement of Ejercito Estrada.
“Rep. JV Ejercito Estrada has been endorsed by the TUCP,” Alan Tanjusay, TUCP advocacy officer, told the regional newspaper Mindanao Examiner.
Ejercito Estrada said he was honoured by the TUCP endorsement. “TUCP Chairman Democrito Mendoza endorsed me too. I am honored and humbled,” he said.
The TUCP also paid tribute to Mendoza, who is considered one of the pillars of trade unionism movement and one of the prime movers of the labor movement in the country.
The convention, a once-every-five-year event, was held at the TUCP compound in Elliptical Road in Diliman. (Mindanao Examiner)
