ZAMBOANGA CITY (Mindanao Examiner / Dec. 11, 2012) – San Juan Rep. JV Ejercito Estrada, of the United Nationalist Alliance, again landed in top place in the recent nationwide Pulse Asia Survey on Filipinos’ Senatorial Preferences for the May 2013 Elections.
Pulse Asia on Tuesday released the results of the November survey and said Rep. JV Ejercito Estrada ranked 4th of the 32 senatorial candidates and even bested veteran senators and politicians.
Those who voted or favored Rep. JV Ejercito Estrada, son of former President Joseph Estrada, were largely from Mindanao, and then followed by Luzon and the National Capital Region, and in the Visayas.
“Pulse Asia is pleased to share with you some findings on Filipinos’ Senatorial Preferences for the May 2013 Elections from the November 2012 Ulat ng Bayan national survey,” said Professor Ronald D. Holmes, president of Pulse Asia, Inc.
Pulse Asia said Senators Francis Escudero and Loren Legarda shared the top spot in the coming senatorial race; the rest of the list of probable winners is evenly split with 5 candidates coming from the United Nationalist Alliance and 5 others belonging to the Liberal Party.
After the survey had been completed on December 4, the Commission on Elections allowed the participation of another senatorial aspirant in the coming elections and bringing to 33 the total number of senatorial candidates for the May 2013 polls.
Pulse Asia said the survey fieldwork was conducted from November 23 to 29 using face-to-face interviews. “As in our previous surveys, this nationwide survey is based on a sample of 1,200 representative adults 18 years old and above. It has a ± 3% error margin at the 95% confidence level.”
“Sub-national estimates for each of the geographic areas covered in the survey (Metro Manila, the rest of Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao) have a ± 6% error margin, also at 95% confidence level,” Pulse Asia said, adding in keeping with its academic nature, no religious, political, economic, or partisan group influenced any of these processes.
It said Pulse Asia undertakes surveys on its own without any party singularly commissioning the research effort.
Top Rank
In previous Social Weather Station and Pulse Asia surveys, Rep. JV Ejercito Estrada also ranked 4th from 8th place and surpassing incumbent senators Gregorio Honasan and Antonio Trillanes with a 43% voting for rate.
“I am grateful for the sustained and increasing public support. Along with the Estrada name, I consider my good showing as the people’s recognition of our efforts and achievements in San Juan,” Rep. JV Ejercito Estrada said.
He announced his senatorial bid in August during the San Juan City’s celebration of Pinaglabanan Day and confirmed this again in September to the delegates of the Philippine Councillors League Convention in Zamboanga City.
With the strong showing of candidates of United Nationalist Alliance, it could sweep majority of the Senate seats in 2013 mid-term elections. Outstanding
Rep. JV Ejercito Estrada was a former mayor of San Juan City and his phenomenal governance as Chief Executive for nine years, along with his conviction to make a difference in the lives of the masses, has shown a new type of public servant.
He put up the JV Ejercito Scholarship Foundation which has already benefited over 1,000 college scholars in his effort to serve and make a positive difference in the lives of the Filipino masses, especially on the youth.
Under his leadership, San Juan had emerged triumphant despite the economic and political crises besetting the nation. To date, San Juan has the lowest poverty incidence of 2.92% as stated by the National Statistics Coordinating Body, and achieved a 200% increase in its revenue in merely four years, and recognized by the Commission on Audit as the best fiscally-managed municipality in the entire country.
San Juan likewise emerged as the country’s Most Progressive Municipality in 2006 as adjudged by the Commission on Audit.
“This is a feat which shows that JV has excelled as a good local executive, while being active in fighting for his principles by being part of different mass actions about various national issues. Because of JV’s sound financial management, San Juan is the only local government unit in the country to be given an AA credit rating by the Local Government Unit Guaranty Corporation, the highest rating among the local government units. And against all odds, JV emerged as one of the best, if not the best performing local chief executive as he spearheads San Juan’s “economic boom,” his assistants said.
“Now as House Representative of the city’s lone district, JV had elevated San Juan into a new booming city in the metropolis that enhanced his health campaigns by providing affordable medical and hospitalization needs, improving the local education system by establishing an affordable City College and promoting technical and vocational courses which provided livelihood programs, and an on-site housing program to the poorest of the poor in San Juan.” (Mindanao Examiner)
