
GENERAL SANTOS CITY (Mindanao Examiner / Dec. 8, 2012) – Philippine authorities said 13 fishermen who were reported missing had been rescued off Davao Oriental province in Mindanao after three days at sea.
It said the fishermen were mostly from the province of Surigao del Sur and that their trawler capsized on December 4 at the height of typhoon Bopha.
Authorities said a fishing boat spotted the fishermen and rescued them and brought to General Santos City. They were among two dozen crewmen of the trawler FB Blue, but the fate of the other fishermen remains unknown.
Typhoon Bopha killed hundreds of people when it battered the southern Philippines and President Benigno Aquino has declared a state of calamity. (Mindanao Examiner)
