DID YOU KNOW that Lantaka Hotel (By the Sea) has the most expensive loaf bread in Zamboanga City in the southern Philippines? Believe it or not, but it’s the truth! At P480 plus 10% service charge, the loaf bread will cost you a good dinner for two in the same hotel.
The loaf bread – which is not even made of wheat flour – is more expensive than the two orders of sautéed Chinese noodles we’ve ordered during the NUJP meeting we had tonight in preparation for the commemoration of the massacre of 58 people, among them 33 journalists in Maguindanao province in 2009.
I felt like we were also massacred by the hefty price we had to pay for a single loaf which is three times the price of Lantaka’s Club sandwich.
So next time you are in Zamboanga and happens to be in Lantaka, I say avoid ordering the loaf bread and instead go for the Club sandwich at P180 with macaroni salad on the side!
But Lantaka is still my favorite hotel in Zamboanga City.
By the way, the meeting was good and everything is set for the commemoration of our fallen colleagues – our NUJP president Frencie Carreon and past president Darwin Wee – led the meeting with fellow press freedom fighters – Queenie Casimiro and Jayvee Francisco and Albert Arcilla. (Al Jacinto)

“Thanks for your constructive comments. I did check it immediately, it is not the price. Perhaps, I would be honored to see you and check the receipt, if there are any mistakes, am willing to give prompt justice. Thanks, Al.”
“I shall take it positively. I appreciate your concern. Please tell me the date and time for me to take the fast and appropriate action so that correction would be made and justice given you. I will be meeting with the cashier and server, upon my return. I already called the attention of the staff. God bless!
