MANILA (Mindanao Examiner / Sept. 25, 2012) – The Philippines launched a new office of the Social Security System in Dubai to further serve Filipinos working in the United Arab Emirates, said a statement sent to the Mindanao Examiner by Foreign Affairs officials.

SSS President and Chief Executive Officer Emilio de Quiros, Jr. led the opening of the new office in a simple ceremony held at the Consulate General’s premises.

De Quiros, a former Executive Vice President of Bank of the Philippine Islands, and President of Ayala Life, was happy over the opening of an SSS office in Dubai where a lot of Filipinos work and live.

He also informed the participants that the SSS has recently signed agreements with Denmark and Portugal that would allow Filipinos to receive their social security benefits once they are back in the Philippines.

Philippine Ambassador to the UAE Grace Princesa praised the opening of the SSS office and urged the Filipinos in Dubai and the Northern Emirates to avail of its programs and services.

She also encouraged those present during the ceremony to spread the good news so that the whole Filipino community in the UAE can begin securing their future.

SSS has six other offices in the Middle East – Riyadh, Jeddah, Al Khobar, Kuwait, Doha, and Abu Dhabi.
