DAVAO CITY – The 8th Knowledge Exchange Conference (KEC8) with the theme “Seizing Opportunities through Community eCenters for Inclusive Growth” will be held on October 25-27 at the Apo View Hotel in Davao City.
The conference aims to bring together experts in the field of health, education, agriculture, environment, and entrepreneurship to share knowledge, experiences, and best practices which can be adapted by Community eCenters and other development stakeholders to facilitate inclusive growth.
Community eCenters are shared internet-access points that serve as a channel in delivering e-government and other services to empower marginalized communities.
This year’s event will engage participants with presentations on various topics ranging from modern ICTs impact on community development, to the role of telecenters in inclusive growth, to governance and transformational leadership. Models and approaches of business enterprises which can serve as toolkit for CeCs will also be presented in the event.
A special session is dedicated to sharing the stories of women whose lives have been transformed by digital literacy.
The first two days of the Conference which will involve technical presentations, poster exhibits, and social activities will be capped by a study tour on the 3rd day.
The conference is organized by the Philippine Community eCenter Network – the multisectoral partner of NCC in implementing the Philippine CeC Program – with the National Computer Center and the Information and Communication Technology Office of the Department of Science and Technology.
