ZAMBOANGA CITY (Mindanao Examiner / Aug. 09, 2012) – Police arrested a septuagenarian man accused of violating a law on illegal gambling in Zamboanga City in Mindanao, officials said Thursday.
Officials said Efren Hebreo, 74, was nabbed during a police operation in the village of Sutterville.
Police spokesman Alex Mabalot said gambling paraphernalia were recovered from the old man, including bet money. He said Hebreo was engaged in illegal numbers game called “suetres” where betters choose three numbers and based the winning results from the lottery draw.
He said police filed charges against Hebreo for violating the law. Illegal gambling is rampant in Zamboanga City. (Angelie Cahulugan)
