ZAMBOANGA CITY (Mindanao Examiner / August 06, 2012) – Police are searching for a man, who hacked and seriously wounded his drinking buddy in Zamboanga City in the southern Philippines, officials said Monday.
Police said the victim Danilo Rojas was sleeping in his house when Eric Mangarang attacked him with a bolo in the village of Sinubung.
Prior to the attack, Mangarang had a heated argument with Rojas, who accused him of stealing his phone. Mangarang denied Rojas’ accusation.
After the argument, Rojas went home to sleep, but Mangarang later barged in the house and repeatedly hacked the victim and escaped after the attack.
Neighbors rushed Rojas to hospital. It was not immediately known whether Rojas’ family would file criminal charges against the attacker.
Police investigators said the phone was not missing, but actually in the pocket of Rojas’ pants. Both men were drunk, police said. (Angelie Cahulugan)
