
MANDAUE CITY – Residents of Kapolei City in Honolulu County in Hawaii through the Rotary Club Kapolei Sunset and the Rotary Club Mandaue East, donated some 12,000 assorted books for 48 public schools in Mandaue City.
The recent donation highlighted the Pearl anniversary of Rotary Club of Mandaue East and the Hawaii 25th Trade Mission to Mandaue headed by Hawaii Lieutenant Governor Shan Tsutsui and Consul General Gina Jamoralin.
Also part of the mission was Paul Alimbuyao, President of the Filipino Chamber of Commerce of Hawaii, amd Susana Lorna Carteciano, President of Rotary Club of Mandaue East, 2014-2015; Vice Mayor Glenn Bercede and City Councilors Nenita Layese, Beethoven Andaya, Diosdado Suico, Jimmy Lumapas and Jefferson Ceniza, and officers and members of Mandaue Chamber of Commerce and Industry led by its President, Jerry Roa. In a turnover ceremony held at Madaue City Hall, James Handsel, Administrator of Rotary Club Kapolei Sunset and Consul Jamoralin handed over the donation to Mayor Jonas Cortes and Angelina Cagatulia, the City Librarian.
The project dubbed as, “Books for Kids,” intends to promote quality education in public schools. (MNS)
