
CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY (Mindanao Examiner / Apr. 5, 2012) – A motorized boat carrying 28 holidaymakers capsized in a lake in Agusan del Norte province in the southern Philippines and authorities said Thursday one woman drowned and two others are still missing.
One passenger, Susan Janle Beldisima, was also rushed to hospital for injuries she sustained from the tragedy that occurred Wednesday afternoon in Jabonga town, according to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council.
It identified the lone fatality as Melucina Mahulum, 63; and the missing as Antonette Sebian, 36, and Kris Anthony Olimpus, 10, all guests of the Casili Lakeside Resort in the town of Maiinit in Surigao del Norte province. The other passengers were rescued by villagers.
The passengers were on a sightseeing tour when the boat capsized. Police have launched an investigation into the incident. (Mindanao Examiner)
