
ZAMBOANGA CITY (Mindanao Examiner / Apr. 1, 2012) – Two motorcycle gunmen fatally shot a university president in a daring attack Sunday in the southern Filipino port city of Zamboanga, officials said.
Officials said the gunmen fired at least 5 rounds at Dr. Arturo Eustaquio III, President and Chairman of the Board of the Universidad de Zamboanga, in Santa Maria village and fled after the shooting which occurred at around 1 p.m.
Eustaquio was rushed to hospital where doctors tried to revive him, but they failed, said Professor Elbert Atilano, of the Universidad de Zamboanga.
“They were trying to revive him, but there is no more pulse,” he said.
Police said it is investigating the attack. Gun attacks are not uncommon in Zamboanga City where hired killers are actively operating. (Mindanao Examiner)
