
COTABATO CITY (Mindanao Examiner / Feb. 10, 2012) – The Cotabato City Lions Club hosted the two-day “3rd Cabinet Meeting and Sub-District Conference” held recently here.
The meeting and conference was attended by at least 23 delegates North Cotabato, Bukidnon, Davao City, Kidapawan City, Cagayan De Oro City, Zamboanga City and General Santos City Lions Club District 301-E.
Most of the delegates were members of the business sector with enthusiastic outlook of the city, said Host Lions Club Cotabato president Teng Ebrahim.
He said holding of the event in Cotabato significantly indicated that the city is evidently safe and peaceful.
The activity was highlighted by the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement dubbed as “Adopt a Mountain” project between the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) and the Lions Club.
Forester Kahal Kedtag, Secretary of DENR-ARMM, signed the MOA with Esmael Ebrahim, Host Lions Club president, and witnessed by Lion Governor Adrian Lambo, and its officers and members.
The project commenced with a tree planting activity in the village of Awang in Maguindanao’s Datu Odin Sinsuat town.
Kedtag said the “Adopt a Mountain” project signifies the DENR and Lions Club’s sincerity in protecting the environment and the communities from flash floods, landslides and other environmental problems.
He said the project also supports the regional government’s total log ban and Manila’s National Greening Program. (With a report from Mark Navales)
