NGCP to hold public consultation in January

Editor December 26, 2011

MANILA (Mindanao Examiner / Dec. 26, 2011) – The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) announced the issuance of the draft of the 2011 Transmission Development Plan (TDP) in preparation for public consultation meetings scheduled in January 2012.

The TDP is prepared and implemented by NGCP to expand, upgrade, rehabilitate, repair and maintain the nationwide transmission system, as mandated by the Electric Power Industry Reform Act of 2001 (R.A. 9136). The plan is formed in consultation with electric power industry stakeholders such as generators, distribution utilities, customers directly connected to the grid as well as local government units, it said.

It said the meetings will take place on the following dates:  January 5 – Sulu Hotel, Quezon City (for Luzon customers); January 10 – Marco Polo Hotel, Davao (for Mindanao customers); and January 13 – Parklane Hotel, Cebu (for Visayas customers).

The TDP outlines the ongoing and future projects of NGCP within a 10-year period. Part of the TDP will be allotted to the major network capital expenditures projects for the Third Regulatory Period (2011-2015), according to NGCP.

The consultation draft and schedule of the public consultation meetings can be accessed on this URL http://www.ngcp.ph. Comments may be emailed to comments_tdp@ngcp.ph.

NGCP is a private corporation solely responsible for the operation and maintenance of the country’s power transmission network. NGCP balances the demand and supply of electricity to be able to efficiently serve all of its customers, which include generators, private distribution utilities, electric cooperatives, local government units, ecozones, industries and directly connected companies.
