ZAMBOANGA CITY (Mindanao Examiner / Dec. 12, 2011) – A gun attack on Monday killed a man in the busy business district of Zamboanga City in the southern Philippines, police said.
Police said a lone assailant shot the still unidentified man as he was walking in front of a Jollibee store, about 40 meters away from the City Hall.
The motive of the killing is still unknown. Police recovered no identification from the man, but investigators found pawnshop and hardware receipts bearing the name Talib from the bag of the victim.
“I heard a single shot, but did not see the actual shooting,” said a security guard who was near the area.
Police said it is investigating the murder. Gun attacks are not uncommon in Zamboanga where dozens of people were killed and wounded in past violence. (Mindanao Examiner)
