Philippine authorities hold security drill

Mock hostage and security drill in Davao City in Mindanao.

DAVAO CITY (Mindanao Examiner / Dec. 9, 2011) – Philippine authorities held a security drill with the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP)in Davao City.

The exercise was also participated by local quick response teams, according to army officials, adding the scenario involved a terrorist attack on the facility.

A mock hostage situation was added to the security drill to further  improved the capabilities of the NGCP and law enforcement agencies to react to an emergency.

Bryan Yasay, NGCP District 5 Substation security manager, said: “We must be ready at all time to respond and defend this facility from any threats. This facility provides a very important commodity in Davao Region. With the help of our law enforcement agencies, we will continue conducting security drills.”
