Philippine Army brigade in Lanao Sur praised

Editor November 17, 2011

MARAWI CITY (Mindanao Examiner / Nov. 17, 2011) –  The local media praised the Philippine Army for its support in the implementation of land transportation laws which has made the roads in Lanao del Sur province safe to travel on.

The Land Transportation Office has deputized the 103rd Infantry Brigade in September this year, and since then the army assisted the agency in the implementation of road and traffic laws.

Just this month, the LTO reported a huge increase in collections of fines and penalties from traffic violations since the army started implementing the laws.

The army was also deputized to conduct proper inspection on checkpoints in Lanao del Sur, including in Marawi City. It is one way of preventing crimes and other illegal activities in the area. In one day alone, the army apprehended at least 29 vehicles for various violations of traffic rules.

The deputation of the army, which was jointly initiated by the provincial government, has curtailed criminality, particularly gangs and syndicates that usually utilize unregistered or stolen vehicles in the province for their nefarious activities.

A decorated army officer, Colonel Daniel Lucero, is the commander of the local brigade. (Mindanao Examiner)
