ZAMBOANGA CITY (Mindanao Examiner / Nov. 17, 2011) – The Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) in Western Mindanao is organizing the “Mindanao Run for Hope” on February 5 next year as part of its 17th anniversary celebration, officials said Thursday.

Officials said the event, which has been approved by PhilHealth and the Department of Social Welfare and Development, would be held simultaneously in six key cities in Mindanao – Butuan, Cagayan de Oro, Davao, Koronadal, Marawi and Zamboanga.

The event aims to provide financial assistance to its beneficiary – the Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC), Children’s Cancer Center and Blood Diseases Unit based in Davao City.

The SPMC is the only facility in Visayas and Mindanao that can deliver multi – disciplinary care for children with cancer. The fun run also hopes to raise funds for the local beneficiaries of the different participating PhilHealth offices.

The PhilHealth Mindanao has signed up the co–presenter sponsorship contract agreement with the KFI Center for Community Development Foundation, Inc. (KCCDFI), a non–governmental organization engaged in providing micro–financial services in Western Mindanao and the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao. (Mindanao Examiner)
