“Initially the cheers were “Marquez! Marquez! Marquez!” but after the decision was announced Pacquiao and his corner men stood looking unsure of what to make of it as the crowd began to boo lustily. When one of Pacquiao’s aides lifted him onto his shoulders and paraded him around like a conquering hero, those boos increased until, as HBO’s Max Kellerman tried to interview him in the middle of the ring, they reached a fierce crescendo that drowned the WBO welterweight champion’s words,” wika pa ni Borges.

“At one point, Kellerman stopped the interview as Pacquiao stood next to him with his head down, a prideful man with a sad look on his face as a wide cut that would take 28 stitches to close above his right eye leaked crimson. When Kellerman tried to resume, the boos grew louder, the anger of the crowd apparent the longer Pacquiao stayed around. When he finally left, he was booed all the way to the locker room, where he would remain for an inordinately long time before finally emerging to claim he had ‘won clearly.’ The only way to see the fight that way was with blood in your eye, which he had much of the night after a clash of heads,” dagdag pa nito sa kanyang isinulat.

“It was close but it was very clear I won the fight,” ani Pacquiao. “It’s not that easy to fight Marquez.”

“I think I won this fight more clearly than the others,” wika pa ni Marquez. “I don’t know what happened. Honestly, I don’t know what I need to do to convince the judges I won…It is the result of this fight that makes me think of retirement. Everybody knows what (just) happened.”

Siyempre kahit ganoon ay kay Manny Pacquiao pa rin ako all the way,” ani tricycle driver Norman Santiago.

(Mindanao Examiner)
