CEBU – Filipino authorities have arrested a South Korean man wanted in his country for money laundering after agents of the National Bureau of Investigation tracked him down in Cebu province in central Philippines, ABS-CBN Television reported Thursday.
It said Jung Bon Young was arrested inside a hotel in Cebu City. The fugitive is reportedly residing in Cebu for many years now and has established several businesses there.
There was no immediate confirmation from the Korean embassy, but the report said an unnamed consul is expected to fly to Cebu to escort the fugitive back to his country.
It was unknown why immigration officials failed to locate the Korean, who was also implicated in illegal gambling operations in his country. (Cebu Examiner)
