DIPOLOG CITY (Mindanao Examiner / Jan. 8, 2014) – Security forces shot a man who ran amuck and attacked a village watchman and government militia with a bolo in Labason town in the southern Filipino province of Zamboanga del Norte, police said.
Police said James Bagioso, 26, was shot while he was about to attack an army soldier, Staff Sergeant Edcil Salave, a member of the 2pth Special Forces Company; and militiaman Romel Francisco in Kipit village.
Bagioso first attacked Romeo Patayon, 49, who was only pacifying him. Patayon was hacked in the head and rushed to hospital. Bagioso then again challenged anyone to stop him until the soldier, along with militias and other watchmen arrived and urged him to surrender his weapon peacefully.
But Bagioso attacked the group until he was shot in the legs and body. He was rushed to the hospital, but died along the way. (Mindanao Examiner)
